Day tour to “Tuscany”
Day Tour to “Tuscany”! Montepulciano, Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, Abbey of Monte Oliveto
With this tour we will visit Montepulciano, medieval and Renaissance hill town, known for its monuments and for the Vino Nobile that with the Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti Classico, is one of the principal red wines of Tuscany. We’ll then visit Pienza, in the historical region of Val d’Orcia, it is considered the “touchstone of Renaissance urbanism”. Next stop will be in Bagno Vignoni, situated on a hill above the Val d’Orcia, it is well known since the ancient times for its hot springs of volcanic origins.
On the way back we’ll visit the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, a large Benedictine monastery founded in 1313 by St. Bernardo Tolomei, the frescoes of the Great Cloister, by Luca Signorelli and il Sodoma, are considered masterworks of the Italian Renaissance.
I am not going to give you a lecture – unless you want to – I will be informative but I won’t overdo with too many dates and names, I’ll make your visit fun with anecdotes and legends, you will have time to enjoy a typical local meal, coffee, ice cream: I know you are here on holiday and your holiday is meant to be enjoyable and fun!
